From Graphic Designer to Educator to Solopreneur

Transforming Wellness Through Visual Thinking

I'm Nicki Hambleton, and I believe that how we think shapes how we live and learn.

With over 30 years of experience in education and design, I now work with students, leaders, and teams to create visual frameworks that turn stress into structure and confusion into clarity.

My approach blends wellbeing, creativity and cognitive science, helping people express what’s hard to say, untangle what’s holding them back, and move forward with confidence.

Whether I’m working 1:1 with an overwhelmed student or facilitating a team session in the workplace, I use visual thinking to help people see their thoughts more clearly and act on them with purpose.

A Foundation in Visual Communication

My professional journey began in Graphic Design, where I developed a deep appreciation for the power of visuals in conveying complex ideas and evoking emotions. '

This experience underscored the impact of imagery on human perception and understanding.

Transitioning to Education

Eager to share this visual language, I transitioned into Art Education. Over three decades, I embraced roles as an educator, leader, presenter, workshop facilitator, mentor, and course developer.

This diverse experience deepened my empathy for individual challenges and reinforced my commitment to fostering wellbeing.

Founding NiH Consultancy

Researching for my Masters during the pandemic led to a light bulb moment: Visual thinking really makes a difference and can help everyone!

Building upon my experiences, I established NiH Consultancy to extend the benefits of visual thinking to a broader audience, applying Visual Thinking across sectors from schools to business and individuals.

By combining my extensive experience and unique approach with a genuine concern for wellbeing, I strive to create environments where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.

I work with…

Leaders & Teams

Facilitating clear communication and inclusive collaboration to build stronger teams and ease stress at work.

Educators & Students

Implementing visual strategies to master procrastination, organisation, and make learning an enjoyable experience.

Individuals

Promoting personal development and self-confidence through creative approaches to problem solving, mapping and visualising.

Together, we can harness the power of visuals to untangle complexities, build confidence and enhance wellbeing.

What people are saying about working with Nicki…

My edutainment company EYEYAH! has worked with Nicki on a couple of occasions and each time it has been a great experience. She was able to visualise a complex stakeholder Roundtable for our tech client. She was flexible with iterations and both client and us were really happy with the final product. She also acted as education consultant on a toolkit we designed for youth online safety. She was able to contribute from the perspective of both a teen and an educator. We consider Nicki a valuable specialist extension to our team and we look forward to working with her again.

Tanya Wilson Chua

Founder & Education Lead EYEYAH!

Nicki's knowledge, expertise and experience produced an incredibly useful "how to study" course for UWCSEA students studying the IBDP. Digging into cognitive science, effective learning strategies and her own research, Nicki made the course fun, engaging and genuinely helpful for hundreds of students, which will turn into thousands in years to come. Her professionalism and flexibility was very much appreciated, and she was (and still is) a valuable partner for the college. Thank you Nicki!

Working with Nicki has been an absolute joy, bringing together visuals to captivate my stories and experiences for a series called 25 Questions for 2025. The project and this whole conversation has got people thinking about the power of combining words and images to engage and spark ideas.
